About Catherine

Catherine specialises in advising international high net-worth individuals and wealthy families, with a particular focus on cross-border succession planning.

Until joining Harcus Sinclair, Catherine spent some years running a specialist law practice in Italy focused on the English legal needs of British nationals with interests in Italy, and Italian nationals with legal needs in England.  Whilst primarily a private client lawyer, she provided property and commercial legal advice as well as advice on trusts and estate planning, due to the location of her practice on Lake Como between the Italian business centre of Milan and the Swiss town of Lugano. 

Career

Catherine trained at a magic circle firm, qualifying as a solicitor into the private client department in 1998, where she focused on trusts, charity law and advising high net-worth individuals, both British and foreign. In 2000 she moved to another magic circle firm and was seconded to its Rome office. Catherine practised in Rome between 2000 and 2009, focusing on debt capital markets work. In 2010 Catherine set up her own practice in Como.  She joined Harcus Sinclair in 2016.

Education

Catherine studied theology at Bristol University from 1990 - 1993, and then the CPE and LPC at the College of Law Chester from 1993 - 1995.

Catherine is a member of STEP and is a Trusts and Estates Practitioner

Other interests

Founder and President of Comitato Fiori di Lavanda Onlus, an Italian charity raising funds for research into childhood leukaemia.

Director of AISPA, the Anglo-Italian Society for the Protection of Animals.
